Wikis...

I have been net surfing and have discovered several interesting and helpful wikis.

http://delicious.com/ is extremely helpful as web pages that are of interest to me or others are catagorised into folders to make them easy to find. Have a look for yourself!

http://www.seedwiki.com/wiki/antioch_university_new_england_library_staff_training_and_support_wiki/
is an exellent example of a library using wikis for all of their procedure manuals. This in my opinion is a brilliant idea.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page is a prime example of a group people coming together to create a database of information based on a subject of interest. Their title of Wookieepedia was very clever too.

First things first...

Here I am creating my first blog. I am currently at a course provided by the Queensland State Library called emerging technology. It is very interesting and I am glad that my manager Peter enrolled me even though I didn't know what I was getting myself into. So far we have learnt how to create a blog and about other social networking websites such as myspace, facebook and twitter. As the day progresses we will also cover other technologies now used in todays society including Wiki, Wifi, MP3s, Newsfeeds, etc. At the end of the day I'm sure I'll be "up with it" and even give my teenage sister a run for her money!
